To many, this is the finest quality winter squash. Length 8”-12” (20-30 cm) and about 3 lbs. Generally cylindrical, with a small seed cavity. Flesh is extremely fine, sweet, yellowish-orange. Requires very rich soil, as squash is a voracious feeder. Sow 6-8 seeds in groups (hills) 4’-5’ (120-150 cm) apart. Thin to 2-3 plants per group. Water regularly from time of flowering until fruits ripen. Vitamins A and fiber. Has a nutty flavor when boiled and mashed.
